Sample - Avery® 5162® (2x7) Address Label Sheet

Disclaimer: "This program is not made, tested or endorsed by Avery Products Corporation. Avery and all Avery brands, product names and codes are trademarks of CCL Label, Inc."

---- 'Avery' here and in the images of the webpage refers to address labels manufactured by Avery Products Corporation.

A simple example demonstrating how to use our software to print 10 identical barcodes on a single Avery 5162 label sheet.

As shown below, the Avery 5162 label layout consists of 2 columns and 10 rows. We need to print 10 barcodes with the same value, 'Abc0123456'. Each barcode label will also include 2 lines of header text and 1 line of footer text.

Since we are printing 10 barcodes with identical values, we have selected the 'Simple Input' mode. If you wish to print barcodes with different values, you can choose other input modes, such as auto-generating serial numbers or importing data from an Excel file.

This program is designed for printing simple barcode labels. Each label can contain one barcode, two lines of header text, and two lines of footer text.

For more complex labels that include multiple barcodes or logos, please use our 'Label Designer' program. It has been installed in the same folder as this program, and you can find it by clicking the Barcode Generator icon on your desktop.

The following sections provide a detailed explanation of each parameter's function.

As shown in the figure below, the barcode label printing setup consists of three steps:

1. Enter Barcode Values: There are four input modes available: entering a single line of values, entering multiple lines of values, automatically generating a sequence of numbers, or importing data from an Excel or text file.

2. Configure Barcode Format: This includes setting the barcode size, text font size, barcode orientation, and whether human-readable text should be displayed.

3. Define Print Layout: This involves specifying paper size, the number of rows and columns on the label sheet, page margins, and the spacing between rows and columns.

There are four modes for inputting barcode values, which we detail in other articles. Please click 'Back to Directory' to learn more.

Now, let's walk through how to set up the barcode format. This program supports 34 different barcode types, including most of the commonly used 1D and 2D barcodes, as shown below:

As illustrated in the image, click the dropdown list to select the barcode format you need.

If you're unsure which barcode type to use, we recommend selecting Code 128 for 1D barcodes and QR Code for 2D barcodes. Both are advanced technologies with high data storage densities.

Next, you will need to configure the barcode's dimensions. As shown in the image, you can adjust the barcode's width and height by dragging the slider, or manually input the desired values. The units for barcode size can be set to either inches or centimeters.

This program also includes an automatic barcode size calculation feature. Simply click the 'Calc Size' button to trigger the automatic calculation. It will determine the optimal barcode size based on the label dimensions.

Now, let's go into more detail about other barcode format settings.

First, let's look at setting the font for the barcode, as shown in the image below. You can directly select the font and font size, which will affect all titles, footers, and text in the barcode.

Additionally, you can customize the font and size for each line of text separately by clicking the 'Set Fonts' button.

For a detailed explanation on how to adjust the font and size for each line of text, please refer to our other article. Click 'Back to Directory' to explore other articles.

Other options include:

'Rotation': This setting allows you to print the barcode at one of four different angles: 0°, 90°, 180°, or 270°.

'Text Alignment': This option sets the alignment of the barcode text, including Left, Right, and Center.

Here are descriptions of additional parameters:

'Default Title': This sets the default title for barcode labels. If you're importing data from Excel and leave the title field blank for a specific row, the program will use the value from 'Default Title' as the label's title.

'Auto Resize - High Readability': This option automatically adjusts the barcode width to the optimal size, ensuring that it can be scanned properly by the reader. If enabled, the actual printed barcode width may be slightly smaller than the set value.

'Show Text Under Barcode': If selected, the text corresponding to the barcode value will appear below the barcode. This helps when the barcode label is damaged and cannot be scanned, operators can manually enter the barcode value.

Step 3 (Right side of the screen):

'Columns' and 'Rows': These settings determine how many rows and columns of barcodes will be printed on each label sheet.

'Paper Width and Height': Use this to set the dimensions of the barcode label sheet.

Other settings include adjusting the label's page margins, row/column spacing, and various buttons for loading predefined templates, exporting barcodes to image files, setting up wizards, and printing labels. These features will be discussed in detail in another article.
